(ABC 6 News) – Downtown Rochester is Alive After Five.

Thursdays Downtown might have come to an end, but summer is still going strong.

Experience Rochester partnered with Mayo Civic Center and Rochester Downtown Alliance to put together the free event for the community.

“There’s still a lot of summer left, so we like to say summer’s not over yet,” said Bill von Bank, the Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Experience Rochester and Mayo Civic Center.

A few blocks away from where Thursdays Downtown packed the streets, this event fills the gap as we close out summer.

“I always love seeing live music, and I heard PopROCKS was gonna be here, I thought, oh let’s check it out and see what’s happening,” said John Sievers, a teacher in Rochester.

For Sievers and his wife, it’s a perfect date night and a chance to take some photos.

“I got to put on a nice clown hat and take a really serious picture for that, so it was cool to see the Rochester Civic Theatre out here,” said Sievers.

If you’re camera shy, maybe the food is for you. From tacos to Minnesota sushi, there’s something sure to satisfy everyone.

There’s also something exciting for those who are feeling lucky.

“You can win tickets to upcoming shows at Mayo Civic Center, and then also the Rochester Civic Theatre is also registering to win tickets as well,” said von Bank.

Even if you don’t win, you’ll still be having fun.

“I just like having the community get together and enjoy themselves and kinda live out the last days of summer,” said Sievers.

Holding on to summer for as long as we can.

Don’t worry if you missed the fun. Experience Rochester will be back for the next two Thursdays with more fun, games, and live music.
