Red Wing woman killed after being hit by a vehicle Sunday

(ABC 6 News) – A Red Wing woman was killed after being hit by a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

At approximately 2:12 p.m., Red Wing Police Department and Fire Department were called to the 400 Block of West Third Street for a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

When authorities arrived they found 55-year-old Marianne Dohnalek in the roadway with significant injuries.

Dohnalek was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Red Wing and later flown via helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester where she later died from her injuries.

The driver of the vehicle, an 81-year-old woman from Hager City, Wisconsin, remained at the scene and cooperated with officers. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be a factor in the crash. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.

The Red Wing Police Department was assisted by the Red Wing Fire Department, Goodhue County Sheriff’s Office, and the Minnesota State Patrol.
