(ABC 6 News) – The VFW Star Venue Hall in Rochester turned into Candy Land for sports card collectors on Saturday.

The Med City Sports Card Show gave collectors the chance to find that missing piece to their collection.

Thousands of cards were on display from Hall of Famers to some of our favorite Minnesota athletes. One of which made a special guest appearance.

“Just seeing everyone come in with jerseys and getting excited about sports and talking sports, it’s a really good time,” former Minnesota Vikings Marcus Sherels said.

The resurgence of collecting sports cards peaked during the pandemic. Tyler Bauman, Med City Card Show runner, said he got into the hobby through his dad when he was a kid and he’s been collecting and going to card shows ever since.

“It’s a hobby that’s great because there’s something for everyone, at all price points. A lot of it’s nostalgia too. My brother-in-law was in here looking for a Pete Rose rookie,” Bauman said.
