Family announces death of Rochester comic book store owner

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester business owner’s family announced his death Tuesday after an unexpected hospitalization and cancer diagnosis.

The family members of Craig Cotten used his Facebook account July 5 to post the following message:

"It is with a heavy heart that I let you know Craig passed away on Monday night. We will be having a Celebration of Life sometime in the next few weeks. I will post the details once they are set."

Cotten, a longtime Rochester fixture and owner of book, comic, and game store Book Review was hospitalized Thursday, June 23, with pneumonia.

According to posts by his family, Cotten went into septic shock in the Emergency Room and was diagnosed with an aggressive case of leukemia.

His niece, Cate Moore, created a GoFundMe for medical costs which raised more than $10,000 in one week.

"People have been just amazing," Cotten’s sister, Kelly Moore, told ABC 6 News last week. "We’ve gotten so many messages from people, … so I’ve been passing them along to him. They can’t wait for him to try and beat this and get back."

The Book Review, which Cotten staffed by himself, is closed.
