Hundreds of crashes throughout Iowa and Minnesota as drivers navigate ice and snow

The state patrols in both Iowa and Minn. have been relatively busy over the last 24 hours as troopers responded to hundreds of crashes amid the most recent winter storm.

(ABC 6 News) – The state patrols for Iowa and Minn. have just released new information and data on how drivers fared navigating icy and snowy roads this weekend amid the winter storm.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, from 12:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday morning, there were around 137 crashes statewide. Of those crashes, 119 involved property damage. There were 18 crashes with injuries and none were fatal.

Overall, ISP responded to 948 calls to assist motorists on the roads.

In Minnesota, from 12:30 a.m. Friday through Sunday morning, there were 295 property damage crashes. Around 129 vehicles spun off of the road and 25 crashes involved injuries. MSP reports that two crashes were fatal.

(ABC 6 News) – The state patrols in both Iowa and Minn. have been relatively busy over this past weekend as troopers responded to hundreds of crashes amid the most recent winter storm.

From 12:30 a.m. on Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday, the Iowa State Patrol responded to around 86 crashes. Of these, 71 had property damage, 15 included injuries and none were fatal.

In total, the ISP responded to 535 calls to assist motorists.

In Minnesota, from 6 a.m. Friday to 7:30 a.m. Saturday, the Minnesota State Patrol saw 216 crashes, 14 with injuries and two that were either serious or fatal.

Of these crashes, 65 vehicles spun off of the road and 1 semi jackknifed.
