Two teens flee VonWald youth shelter, one arrested for assaulting deputy

(ABC 6 News) – Two teens flee VonWald youth shelter, one arrested for assaulting a deputy Saturday.

On Saturday around 9 p.m., Olmsted County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to VonWald Youth Shelter on the 4400 block of Bamber Valley Road Southwest to report two missing juveniles.

VonWald staff told the deputies two teenagers had run away from the shelter.

Deputies found the teens walking north on Bamber Valley Road Southwest. One was cooperative with the deputies, but the other, a 15-year-old girl from Cannon Falls, would not listen to the deputies’ directions.

According to the Sheriff’s office, deputies advised her to stop walking, and she then walked into a lane of traffic.

Deputies said they escorted her away from the road by both shoulders and then tried to put her in handcuffs, and she began kicking.

They held her to the ground and continued to cuff her. She was placed in the backseat of a squad car, where she spit in one of the deputies’ faces.

She is facing possible charges of felony fourth-degree assault.
