RPD investigating possible abduction attempt involving 11-year-old

(ABC 6 News) – The Rochester Police Department is looking to speak with the person involved in a possible abduction attempt Thursday, February 24.

Police said they received a call from a woman just after 4:00 p.m. saying someone tried to abduct her daughter. She told police her 11-year-old had gotten off a bus near 21st St and 20th St NW after school when a man in a vehicle asked her if she wanted a ride home because of the bad weather. The girl refused and police said the man then made a comment about giving her candy. Again the girl refused to get in the vehicle.

Rochester Police said they are unsure if the man made the offer with ulterior motives or if it was a good samaritan trying to help the young girl. Police are looking to speak with the man to get more information. He’s described as a white man with sandy blonde hair, a goatee and a black coat. He was driving a blue crossover-style vehicle that resembled a Subaru.
