(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Pride has been postponed until 2022 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Rochester Pride Board of Directors decided to reschedule the Rochester Pride Celebration until May 21st, 2022 due to the current high community transmission rates of COVID-19.

"Although it is with a heavy heart that we make this announcement, this was a unanimous decision made by our 13 member board after carefully reviewing the COVID-19 statistics for Olmsted County and the surrounding area.

Since our founding in 2019, the main objective of Rochester Pride has been to make an inclusive and family friendly event to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ community. Ultimately, our board decided that the only way to fulfill that vision is to wait until people of all ages have had the opportunity to be vaccinated against COVID-19."

This is the second consecutive year the event has been postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Rochester Pride said it will continue to work hard at putting on a great event next spring.
