Rochester man accused of DUI, driving off after crash

(ABC 6 NEWS) – Rochester police arrested a 28-year-old Rochester man on possible charges of driving while under the influence and hitting a car and driving off.

Rochester Police arrested Cameron Wilks, 28 from Rochester Thursday morning on possible felony 1st degree DUI and hit and run charges.

Police said around 1 a.m., officers were sent to the 41st St. bridge over Highway 52 for a head-on collision.

The victim in the crash, a 19-year-old Rochester woman, told police she was heading east on the bridge when Wilks and she crashed into each other head-on.

No major injuries were reported, said police.

Wilks drove off and officers were eventually able to pull him over.

Police said Wilks was showing signs of impairment and they took him to the hospital and then the Olmsted County Detention Center where he failed a breath test.

Wilks has three prior convictions making this a felony 1st degree DUI.
