(ABC 6 News) – Rochester Community and Technical College (RCTC) is hoping to become one of 100 causes, chosen to receive a $25,000 State Farm Grant.

The money would help feed more than 500 college students through its food pantry called, The Hive Supply.

A survey conducted on campus, shows 33% of students were food insecure within the last 30 days. The pantry spends about $3,000 a month to supply food. Megan Ross is the Student Life Coordinator at RCTC, she says a $25,000 grant would help provide 8 to 9 months of food for the pantry.

"I’m just so impressed with the courage that our students have, coming to school, being students, looking to reach their occupational goals, despite some of the challenges that they are facing," Ross said.

To help supply the Hive, you can vote every day, up to ten times a day, until May 6. Community donations are always welcomed.
