NTSB investigating plane crash in Victoria, multiple fatalities

(KSTP) – Law enforcement and emergency personnel are at the scene of a deadly plane crash in Victoria on Saturday night, according 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation reported an "air crash" near Highway 5 and Victoria Drive.

Debris was also seen near a home.

Law enforcement confirmed multiple people were killed in the crash, adding that there were no survivors, but no specifics were given.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed a single-engine Mooney M20 plane crashed into an unoccupied home at 5:40 p.m. after departing from Alexandria Municipal Airport earlier in the day. The plane was headed to Flying Cloud Airport in Eden Prairie when it crashed.

A witness told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS that the plane was headed northeast and making a slow descent when he heard a pop. At that time, one of the plane’s wings appeared to snap off, causing the plane to spiral toward the ground, the witness said.

The National Transportation Safety Board said it’s investigating the crash.

Law enforcement also said Highway 5 will remain closed from County Road 11 South to County Road 11 North overnight and into Sunday.
