(ABC 6 News) — It’s never good when the home team loses on the holiday. When the Honkers lost to the Huskies on Father’s Day, they knew they wanted to make it count in the rematch.

They did just Monday night at Mayo Field, as they blanked the Huskies 5-0 to improve to 8-12 on the season.

They notched their first run in the bottom of the second inning on an RBI double from Michael Brown. Things would really open up for them in the fifth inning when the trio of Alex Ritzer, Kevin Dowdell, and Theo Hardy all got hits to push the score to 4-0.

Regino’s RBI single in the eighth proved to be an insurance run, but the Honkers didn’t need it as they got 7 shutout innings from the quartet of Noah Rooney, Cam Holycross, Troy Wentworth, and Thaniel Trumper.

The win concludes the Honker’s four-game home stand. They will hit the road to take on the Waterloo Bucks on Tuesday.
