Downtown Waterfront SE 6th Street Bridge public information session

(ABC 6 News) – The City of Rochester is seeking additional community input on the future 6 Street SE Bridge over the Zumbro River.

After two rounds of public outreach in October and November, the design team will present potential bridge concepts and how increased river access may be achieved. Participants will also have an opportunity to provide feedback on the design and look of 6 Street on either side of the river, including proposed future traffic control, intersection treatments and bicycle and pedestrian improvements.

The bridge concept will highlight key features developed through the public engagement process including the prioritization of pedestrians and bicyclist, inclusion of accessibility and safety features and the incorporation of plants and trees on the bridge. The preferred design will help guide the City in the process of securing funding to build the bridge in the future.

A third set of Virtual Open Houses is scheduled for Thursday, January 27, 2022. Each session will begin with a general project overview presentation and be followed by a Q&A and feedback session with attendees. The first session will run from noon to 1:30 p.m. and the second will run from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A recording of a January 27 presentation and subsequent discussion will be posted on the project website for those that were unable to attend.
