Horror Movie Filmed in Lanesboro
(ABC 6 News) – The James A. Thompson House may not be the main character, but the Lanesboro bed and breakfast will star in the upcoming independent horror movie, Voice of Shadows. ABC 6 anchor Robin Wolfram met with director Nick Bain.
Bain, originally from St. Paul, picked the Thompson House after owners Marti and David Gray reached out to Bain, offering their B&B.

Bain had never been to Lanesboro before visiting the property.
Bain has described the film as “more of a psychological thriller with some scares,” rather than a just a horror movie.
Bain stated he began working on Voice of Shadows while under COVID-19 lockdown after hearing a friend tell a story about a landline receiving calls from ghosts, a concept similarly to the 2022 movie The Black Phone.
The film will feature Bee Vang, best known for his performance in Gran Torino.
Bain will attend the film’s premiere at the St. Mane Theater in Lanesboro on Friday Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. for $20. Tickets can be purchased online or at the St. Mane Theater after 6:00 p.m.
Voice of Shadows will also be played at the Twin Cities Film Festival on Saturday Oct. 21.
