OCSO provides update on Tia Arleth suspicious death investigation

UPDATE: Rochester and Olmsted County law enforcement revealed the identity of the Rochester man suspected of causing the death of 28-year-old Tia Arleth and hiding her body in Haverhill Township over the summer.

Timothy Daniel Loftus, 41, faces charges of 3rd-degree homicide and interference with a dead body.

(ABC 6 News) – The Olmsted County Sheriff’s office will provide an update on the suspicious death investigation of Tia Arleth in a press conference on Thursday afternoon.

Tia Mercedes Arleth, 28, was found deceased just before 6 p.m. near County Rd. 2 and 70th Ave. NE. in Haverhill Township in rural Olmsted County on June 17, 2022.

Arleth was discovered after a person mowing tall grass adjacent to a corn field saw a tarp with a human arm sticking out the side.

Law enforcement said both the condition of her body and the location it was found was “suspicious in nature.”

Arleth had a listed address out of Minneapolis but had significant ties to Rochester and was last seen May 30. She was reported missing to authorities by her mother on June 12.

One friend of Arleth said she wants her to be “known forever as the person she was” because “she deserved better.”
