Second teen charged in Northern Valley Drive shooting pleads guilty
(ABC 6 News) – The second teenager charged in the August drive-by shooting on Northern Valley Drive pleaded guilty Thursday, Feb. 1.
Raul James Rios, 18, pleaded guilty to an amended charge of aiding and abetting 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Rios had previously been accused of being one of the two teens who fired at a home on Northern Valley Drive NE.
The charge of drive-by shooting toward a person was amended as part of Rios’ plea deal.
According to his plea agreement, Rios will be released ahead of his sentencing and his defense will argue for a comparatively light sentence.
His co-defendant, Lebron Benson Giwa, 18, pleaded guilty to the same charge of aiding and abetting 2nd-degree assault with a dangerous weapon in December.
A total of four teenagers were arrested related to the August shooting — two juveniles, whose charges and identities are not public, and the two 18-year-olds.
Rios’ sentencing is scheduled for April 22.
