Instead, he entered a guilty plea in exchange for an agreement that the state and his defense would recommend a lighter-than-average sentence, possibly probation, depending on the results of a presentence investigation.

If a pre-sentence investigation finds that Adams is amenable to probation, but the state argues for a prison sentence, Adams has the right to withdraw his plea and proceed with a jury trial, according to court documents.

On May 19, 2023, Adams and Michael King were allegedly involved in an altercation, which resulted in each man firing toward the other, according to court documents.

King is scheduled to appear in Olmsted County Court for a pretrial hearing March 5, followed by a jury trial March 11.

Adams’ sentencing is scheduled for May 22.
