Summer warmth will feed opportunity for showers

For the first day of meteorological summer, it’s feeling just as it should for the season. Actually, it’s a bit warmer than the climatological “normal” for June 1st, but let’s roll with it. Once again, some of us picked up a good dose of rain Thursday while other locations stayed dry. The Rochester area picked up more than a quarter inch of rain in a few locations, with the airport receiving 0.35″ in the first couple hours of the afternoon.

We can look forward to more of the same on Friday, with a weaker shot at rain this weekend, although a stray storm can’t be ruled out Saturday. It’s the kind of weather we can almost fully enjoy outdoors, while having to take a brief rain break during a brief downpour. Game off! Sorry… old street hockey habit there. Daily highs will continue to run in the mid to upper 80s into and through the weekend, and less humid air will make an entrance on Tuesday of next week. Enjoy the summer weather! These are the days you were waiting for a few months ago…
