(ABC 6 News) – Minnesota Senator Tina Smith gained traction on social media after comments she made at the Washing Press Club Foundation’s annual congressional dinner.

In a pre-recorded video, Smith took the opportunity to take swipes at Democratic presidential candidate Dean Phillips.

“Poor Dean. He took a real beating in New Hampshire, but he’s staying on the ballot for South Carolina, because you can’t spell Phillips with only one ‘L,'” Smith said.

ABC News reached out to the Phillips’ campaign for comment but have not received a response yet.
