(ABC 6 News) — Wednesday was National Signing Day across Minnesota and Iowa as several local athletes made the college of their choices official. This was the case at the home of the reigning Class 3A State Football Champions, the Stewartville Tigers with four players signing Letters of Intent.

Caleb Jannsen, Blake Turner, Jack Buntrock and former Prep of the Week Ayden Helder all spoke on what led to their specific commitments with ABC 6 Sports Director José Solís.

“I think the coaches right off the bat made a great first impression,” Jannsen, a Winona State commit said. “They pursued me very well and I love the location as well so mainly the coaches and the guys and the group of people I’ll be around and then also the location fit very well.”

Turner, who will be a preferred walk-on at Kansas State, was drawn to the Wildcats’ agricultural business program, saying, “That’s my major, what I wanted to major in.”

“And then just the coaching staff, honestly, they made me feel so loved, they made me feel at home. Coach Brian Lepak, he was awesome to me.”

Buntrock will head to Luther College, saying of his decision, “I got down there, I met a lot of the guys face to face, that was super great.”

“A lot of the players a lot of the coaches, so their relationship-making is just kind of next to none I feel like and it made it super easy to make my decision.”

Helder will head to the Wisconsin-Eau Claire Blugolds, noting that, “the relationships I’ve kind of built with the staff over time when I went there on my official visit, just kind of the way they approached me, the way they approached my family.

“The facilities they have, they’re really nice and just kind of the program they’re trying to build and the future is headed is something that really stood out to me.”
