Girls Basketball Preview: Century prioritizing consistency and communication

(ABC 6 News) — Last year was about as up and down as one could get for the Century Panthers; finishing with a 13-14 record as they look to hammer down consistency The team believes as the season goes on, o will their growth and progress.

“I think we just need to make sure to make the good shots and really slow down,” junior guard Taylor Clarey said. “Maybe if we’re up by five or ten to just slow down a little bit and make sure we’re making quality shots.”

“Yeah, the thing I love about our team, we’re really scrappy and try to get every ball we can,” junior forward Ella Zmolek added. “I think our defense is pretty good. Just try to get every ball you can and play good d.”

“A lot of teams can see how we grew last year as a team,” head coach Chadd Clarey noted. “That when we stepped onto the court, we weren’t an easy win. All these girls are fighting for the same goal and I think that they’re go out and give every team their best.”

The Panthers begin their season on November 29 at home against Mankato East.
