Rhonda LaVelle joined KAAL-TV, ABC 6 News as Vice President & General Manager in August of 2021. LaVelle came to KAAL-TV from WXYZ and WMYD in Detroit, Michigan where she had served as news director for 5 years. Prior to WXYZ/WMYD, Rhonda served as news director at KPRC-TV in Houston, Texas and spent 16 years as an executive producer/producer at WDIV in Detroit, Michigan. Rhonda and her husband Mark have one daughter, Kendall who attends Rochester Public Schools.
Rhonda is an active member of the Minnesota Broadcasters Association and has put her leadership skills to work on various boards including as a member of the Radio Television Digital News Association, as an ABC Affiliate News Director Advisory Board Member, The Carole Kneeland Project for Responsible Journalism and the NATAS Michigan Board of Governors as Vice President.
