Voting rights symposium at St. Thomas
(ABC 6 News) – State leaders spent the day at the University of St. Thomas discussing the importance of fighting for the right to vote.
“I grew up after the civil rights movement, I’m like ‘oh, all the fights have been fought. Wasn’t that nice? They’re in the history books or whatever. We’re not gonna get to do that.'” said Governor Tim Walz. “Every generation is charged with protecting the democracy.”
The voting right’s symposium included panels on the evolution of voting rights in the U.S. and potential futures for the nation’s democracy.
