Twins to get new uniforms, updates to Target Field in 2023

(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota Twins announced on Tuesday that they’ll be tweaking the teams uniforms and updating parts of Target Field for 2023.

The Twins will unveil the new uniforms sometime this offseason. Fans can expect a refreshing change to the lettering, the logos, and the overall look of the team, according to Twins’ president Dave St. Peter. The main colors of the team – the core red, white and blue – will not change.

The Twins adopted their current home white uniforms in 2015. The gray road uniforms with “Minnesota” across the front were introduced in 2010, and the navy blue uniform top has been in use since 2011.

The block “Twins” script across the uniform chest has been used since 1987. Dustin Morse, Twins Vice President of Communications and Content says, “the last time that we did a brand refresh was ’86 or ’87, so it kind of felt like it was the right time to introduce a new look to our fanbase and our players,”

The Twins will also debut a “city connect” uniform in 2024 which is an initiative the league is pushing to celebrate the connection between teams and their communities.

Fans will also see some changes around the ballpark in 2023 as Target Field will undergo some updates.

The team announced a $33 million expansion of the outfield videoboard which is expected to be 76% larger than the current one. It’s part of an ongoing project to update the stadium control room.

The field will also get new turf for 2023.
