(ABC 6 News) – All month long, ABC 6 News has been encouraging people to donate a new, unwrapped toy to Toys for Tots. But, what is it like to be on the receiving end of things?

ABC 6 News Good Morning reporter Sydney Zatz spoke to 21-year-old Natalie Schunke who received gifts from Toys for Tots when she was 14 years old.

“It was an amazing feeling actually. In my mind, I was like how could Santa do this? Cause I know my mom told me Santa at first might not be coming and that morning when she brought the presents around the corner, they weren’t wrapped or anything but she said ‘Santa left these in my closet for me.’ It was just a really warm feeling to wake up to.”

Natalie said she tries to give back to Toys for Tots as much as she can.

ABC 6 News is partnering with Toys for Tots, the Marine Corps Reserve, Tonna Mechanical and Rochester Pediatric Dentistry, and collecting unwrapped toys for children in southeast Minnesota during our toy drive held at our studios at 1320 Salem Rd. SW in Rochester.

We are collecting toys until 7:00 p.m. Just drive up and drop them off.

ABC 6 News Good Morning anchor Devin Martin talked to Mason Duckett from Tonna Mechanical about the importance of the toy drive and what the campaign means to the community.
