(ABC 6 News) – A John Adams middle school teacher is getting thousands of dollars in new grant funding from the Rochester Public School Foundation.

Donna Brunskill is now planning to use the 3-thousand dollar grant for a “World Garden project”, where students will get hands-on experience with gardening.

There’s still a lot of work to do, but there are big plans to come.

“The goal is to have four different families gardening here at John Adams, sharing their gardening expertise from their home country with the students here at J.A,” Brunskill explained.

She also received grants from Olmsted County Public Health as well as the Peoples Food Co-op.

The next step is to build a shed that will store tools and equipment.
