Southeast Minnesota Toys for Tots 2022 campaign distributes 27K toys to 7K children

(ABC 6 News) – Southeast Minnesota Toys for Tots once again made sure there were a lot of happy children in the area this year.
The nonprofit announced the 2022 Toys for Tots campaign distributed 27,195 toys to 7,602 children across southeast Minnesota. There were enough toys donated to gift each child a minimum of 3 toys.
The operating budget for this year was 4%, according to the nonprofit, which means 96% of all donations went back to the community. They said many nonprofits do not operate at such a low percentage and is largely due to the support of the community and volunteers.
This year was the 75th Anniversary of the program which has been delivering hope to area children since 1947 with the basic mission to collect new unwrapped toys and distribute them to less fortunate children at Christmas.
In 2021, the program distributed 30,231 toys helping 8,060 children in 8 counties across southeast Minnesota.
