Alcohol suspected in single-vehicle crash on I-90 in Mower County that injures 3

(ABC 6 News) – A single-vehicle crash on I-90 in Mower County injured three people early Tuesday morning.

The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) said the crash happened just after midnight in Austin near the 11th Dr. NE exit. A 2016 Acura RDX was traveling eastbound on I-90 when it lost control and crashed into the median.

MSP says the driver, 20-year-old Devon Lee of Albert Lea, and passengers, 19-year-old Gavin Lawson of Albert Lea, and a 17-year-old male were injured. Lawson and the juvenile male were both transported to Austin Hospital. Lawson’s injuries were described as non-life threatening. No information was provided on the extent of the juvenile male’s injuries. Lee also suffered non-life threatening injuries.

MSP says the pavement was wet at the time of the crash and that Lawson and the juvenile male were not wearing a seatbelt. The crash report says that alcohol was suspected with Lee and Lawson.

MSP was assisted at the scene by the Mower County Sheriff’s Office, Austin Police Department, Austin Fire Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
