Seniors with dementia raise funds for pups

(ABC 6 News) – Residents at a Rochester memory care community recently showed their love for pets with an “adopt a puppy” fundraiser.

Seniors at Cascade Creek, an Anthem Memory Care community in southwest Rochester, raised over $200 to benefit Paws and Claws Humane Society.

“Many of our seniors are lifelong animal lovers,” said Tiffany Bell, life engagement director for Cascade Creek. “This was a wonderful way for them to reminisce about their animal babies while helping the local humane society. They were so excited to drop off their donation at Paws and Claws and meet new furry friends.”

The residents picked out stuffed puppies, put together paper crates and made collars and fleece blankets. Each new owner received the plush puppy kit complete with an adoption certificate.
