Sen. Ernst chosen as Chair of Senate Republican Policy Committee

(ABC 6 News) – U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) announced on Wednesday she was unanimously elected to serve as chair of the Republican Policy Committee (RPC).

The RPC was established in 1947. According to the RPC, the committee advances Republican policies by providing positions on legislation, floor debate, and votes. RPC also provides in-depth analysis on specific issues, policy solutions and alternatives, and strategic guidance. They also provide a recorded vote analysis and run the internal RPC TV broadcast.

For the last 4 years, Ernst has served as vice chair of the Senate Republican Conference.

Following Wednesday’s leadership elections, Ernst thanked her colleagues, and outlined her optimistic vision for the RPC and the Senate Republican Conference.

“It’s been an honor to serve as vice chair of our conference the last four years,” said Ernst. “I’m extremely humbled by the confidence and support of my colleagues to serve as chair of the Republican Policy Committee, and I’m excited to help lead our Senate Republican Conference.”
