Santa’s Shining Lights event kicks off Saturday in Charles City

(ABC 6 News) – The second annual Santa’s Shining Lights event and display kicks off on Saturday at Central Park in Charles City with a fun-filled evening planned.

Food trucks will gather in the park starting at 4:30 p.m. The lighting of the Central Park lighting displays will be turned on at 5:30 p.m. Mrs. Claus will also make an appearance.

The lights will also be on along the newly lighted Memory Lane in Sherman Park along the Cedar River. These lights are sponsored by individuals, families and organizations in memory of loved ones.

A fireworks show will begin at 7:00 p.m. over Main Street bridge. As a result, the bridge will be closed from Court Street to Riverside Drive from 6:30 p.m. to 7:15 p.m.

The event is put on by the Charles City Satellite Rotary Club in conjunction with other local non-profits, businesses and private individuals. The event is also a fundraiser for the club to support its community activities and donations.

The lights will be on display from Saturday through the end of the year.
