Rochester woman receives probation for disseminating child porn

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester woman received 10 years’ probation for disseminating child porn over instant message.

Jamya Jenea Gordon Smith, 21, was arrested in July of 2021 after an Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) informing Rochester police that 23 Child Sexual Abuse Materials (CSAM) had been shared from a SE Rochester address between Feb 1 and 3, 2021.

The report included Gordon Smith’s email address, username, and phone number.

Rochester police obtained a search warrant and found Gordon Smith’s phone, which appeared to have a new SIM card.

According to court documents, Gordon Smith told officers she was added to a KIK instant messaging group where users were sharing child pornography.

She admitted to receiving messages before her account was disabled, but said she did not send CSAM.

Rochester police obtained another search warrant and Gordon Smith’s KIK history, where they found she had sent at least 10 images and videos of child pornography to multiple accounts, featuring children from ages 1-14.

Gordon Smith later told police she “may have” forwarded some videos and pleaded guilty to two counts of disseminating child pornography.

She received a stayed sentence of 36 months, and will spend 10 years on supervised probation.
