Rochester man arrested in driver’s seat of stolen car

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man has been charged with motor vehicle theft after allegedly being found in the driver’s seat of a vehicle stolen Thursday evening.

According to Rochester police, a 36-year-old Rochester man left his car unlocked, with the keys inside, as he entered the Kwik Trip off Wellner Drive NE at about 8:20 p.m. March 2.

The car was quickly stolen.

Rochester police located the vehicle in the Northern Hills Condos parking lot shortly afterward.

Rochester resident Parker Atherton, 21, was allegedly in the driver’s seat of the stolen car.

Atherton denied stealing the car, according to Rochester police.
