Man pleads guilty to drug possession and DWI

(ABC 6 News) – A Rochester man pleaded guilty to heroin possession and driving while intoxicated, after being accused of hitting a police car and driving away in April.

On April 24, police said two officers were parked in their squad car Sunday around 8:30 p.m. near 8th St NE and W. Silver Lake Dr when Parker Atherton struck the squad car.

Atherton then drove off. As he drove away from the officers, police said he knocked over a stop sign, hit another vehicle, ran several red lights and drove through someone’s lawn. The officers ended the pursuit.

The vehicle Atherton was driving was found later on the 300 block of 7th Ave NW. Atherton was located nearby

A search revealed drugs and brass knuckles on his person.

Atherton entered a guilty plea to charges of felony 5th degree drug possession and driving while intoxicated.

His sentencing is scheduled for Aug. 18, 2022.
