‘Our Austin, Our America’ photography exhibit to open at state Capitol

(ABC 6 News) – The Minnesota Historical Society announced the opening of the photography exhibit ‘Our Austin, Our America’ will take place on Mar. 13 at the state Capitol in St. Paul.

The exhibit is the first in a series of public art galleries at the state Capitol. It features portrait photography telling the story of immigrants, refugees, and other newcomers who have made their home in Austin presenting the town as an example of how communities can embrace growing diversity.

The ‘Our Austin, Our America’ exhibit is part of a public art gallery that exists for Minnesota artists to tell Minnesota stories. Artists are selected by the Capitol Art Exhibit Advisory Committee and approved by the State Capitol Preservation Commission.   

The exhibit will be on display on the 3rd Floor Exhibit Gallery from Mar. 13 to June 30.

The Minnesota State Capitol is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and closed Sunday. Admission is free.
