MSP: Alcohol involved in crash sending 1 to hospital

(ABC 6 News) – A Stewartville man was sent to the hospital after an early Wednesday morning crash on Highway 14 in Olmsted County.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol (MSP), the crash happened just after midnight. A vehicle driven by 36-year-old David Riedel and a semi truck both collided while traveling westbound on Highway 14 near mile post 209 in Rochester.

The crash report said Riedel was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The MSP said alcohol was involved with Riedel. The road was covered in snow and ice at the time of the crash, according to MSP. Riedel was wearing a seatbelt.

No information was provided on the condition of the semi driver.

The MSP was assisted at the scene by the Rochester Police Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
