MnDOT closes I-90 west of Worthington to the South Dakota border

(ABC 6 News) – Heavy snow and strong winds are beginning to make their way into Minnesota forcing highway closures.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has closed I-90 in both directions west of Worthington to the South Dakota state line due to blizzard conditions. Heavy snow, and gusty winds are creating whiteout conditions significantly reducing visibility and creating blowing and drifting snow prompting the closure.

MnDOT also closed state Highway 59 and Highway 60 south of Worthington to the Iowa border and several other highways.

Blizzard Warnings are in place east to I-35 in south-central Minnesota so it’s possible additional closures will come as the winter storm continues to bring heavy snowfall and strong winds.
