19-year-old killed in Mall of America shooting

(ABC 6 News) – The Bloomington Police chief says a 19-year-old man has been killed after an altercation involving 5-9 people inside the Nordstrom store led to the shooting. The victim was shot multiple times.

The Bloomington Police Department said Friday that police and emergency medical crews were on the scene of a shooting at around 8:15 p.m.

The shooting took place on the first floor inside the Nordstrom store at MOA. The victim is believed to be from the metro, but his identity has not yet been released.

Police are searching for a group of 5-9 men who fled the scene.

The lockdown lasted for about an hour before the mall tweeted that shoppers were being sent outside.

Chief Hodges says MOA will be open, tomorrow. However, the Nordstrom’s store will be closed.

The Mall of America confirmed the lockdown on its Twitter account and asked shoppers to remain in “the closest secure location.”
