(ABC 6 News) – A Kasson wrestler was charged with two counts of assault after a Feb. 26 altercation.

According to a criminal complaint filed Aug. 23, Rochester law enforcement met with a juvenile male at the St. Marys emergency department in February.

The juvenile told officers that Reed Michael Parrish, 19, of the Kasson wrestling team, had struck him on the right side of the face after an argument about something that happened during the victim’s wrestling match.

The wrestling match took place at the Mayo Civic Center, per court documents.

“Victim explained that his face immediately went numb, his vision became blurry, there was ringing in
his right ear, and his perception appeared to slow down as a result of being hit by Parrish,” the criminal complaint read.

Several witnesses in the area agreed with the victim’s account of events, and Parrish admitted to confronting the victim and slapping him with an open hand, “while acknowledging that it was not a good idea.”

The victim suffered temporary hearing loss in his right ear, as well as a suspected concussion, according to the criminal complaint.

Parrish faces a felony charge of 3rd-degree assault and a misdemeanor charge of 5th-degree assault.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Sept. 22, 2022.
