Iowa man facing several driving-related charges after tractor trailer overturns

(ABC 6 News) An Iowa man is facing several driving-related charges after the tractor trailer he was driving overturned into a ditch on Sunday evening.

According to the Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s department, at approximately 8:22 p.m., officers responded to a tractor trailer that had overturned at Thrush Ave. and 250th St.

The driver, Richard Kuykendall, 77, of Forest City, IA, was making a right turn onto Thrush Ave. from 250th St. when the trailer tires entered the ditch causing the tractor and trailer to overturn into the ditch.

Kuykendall was transported by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries.

Kuykendall was arrested on the following driving-related charges; driving with a suspended license, failure to maintain control of a motor vehicle, fraudulent use of registration, no registration, failure to provide security against liability, failure to maintain safety belts, and failure to display registration plate.

The Cerro Gordo County Sheriff’s department was assisted at the scene by the Iowa State Patrol, Mason City Fire Medics, and Nora Springs Fire Department.
