Hundreds of crashes reported by Minnesota, Iowa State Patrol during winter storm

(ABC 6 News) – Minnesota and Iowa State Patrol troopers responded to hundreds of crashes from Wednesday to Friday as a winter storm blanketed the two states with snow and ice making travel difficult for motorists.

The Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) said they responded to a total of 854 crashes from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday. Of those, 73 resulted in injury with zero serious or fatal crashes reported. MSP also says there were 628 vehicle spin-outs or slide off’s, and 5 jackknifed semi’s.

Meanwhile, the Iowa State Patrol (ISP) said they responded to 304 crashes from 12 p.m. Wednesday to 6 p.m. Friday. Of those, 272 resulted in damage and 32 people were injured with zero fatal. ISP also said they assisted 750 motorists.
