Four victims identified in fatal rollover crash in Iowa Friday

(ABC 6 News) – State officials have named the four people that were killed in a single-vehicle crash on an icy highway in Iowa on Friday morning.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Ervin Borntreger, 22, Emma Borntreger, 4, Rebecca Borntreger, 2, and Marlin Borntreger, 1, were killed in the crash. 9 other people were injured. All of the victims were from Delhi, Iowa.

The crash happened just before 7:00 a.m. Friday morning on Highway 20 north of Wellsburg in Grundy County.

The ISP says a 15-passenger van, with 13 people onboard, was heading westbound on Highway 20 when the driver lost control of the van, went into the median, rolled several times, and came to rest in the eastbound lanes.

Iowa State Patrol troopers believe that nobody that was hurt or killed in the accident was wearing a seatbelt or restrained in a child’s car seat at the time of the crash. Roads in the area were 100% covered with ice and snow at the time of the crash, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
