FIFA World Cup viewing party planned in downtown Rochester

(ABC 6 News) – Soccer fans who are looking to watch FIFA World Cup™ games can do so in downtown Rochester.

Rochester Downtown Alliance, in collaboration with Destination Medical Center and Mayo Clinic, will broadcast select games on a 19-foot LED screen in Peace Plaza from December 9-18.

The event is FREE and open to the public. Games will be broadcast at 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring their own chair.

“We are very excited to bring this celebratory, global event to downtown Rochester,” said Holly Masek, RDA executive director. “We hope to see members of our community and visitors come together to cheer their teams to the finals.”

The Gray Duck Theater in Rochester also announced they will be showing all FIFA World Cup™ games for free (except on Thanksgiving Day) including every United States Men’s National Team (USMNT) game.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is hosted by Qatar and kicks off on November 20 at 10:00 a.m.

The USMNT will play their first game on November 21 at 1:00 p.m. versus Wales.
