(ABC 6 News) – A north Iowa town is updating it’s fireworks ordinance.

Estherville city council says it’s heard a variety of complaints ranging from pet concerned pet owners to combat veterans.

From now on, residents with land more than one and a half acres will need a permit and fireworks can only be set off under dates that fall under the Iowa fireworks code.

The city council had considered banning fireworks all together.
