Dog abandoned outside Des Moines International Airport by airline passenger

(ABC 6 News) – A dog was abandoned outside of Des Moines International Airport as its owner boarded a flight, according to the Animal Rescue League of Iowa (ARL).

The ARL said on Thursday their team responded to a call about a dog tied up outside of the airport. Airline workers told them the dog was unable to board a cross-country flight with their owner because the owner did not have a kennel.

Workers said the owner left the airport with the dog, but returned alone, and went on to board their flight. The dog, a 1-year-old female, was later found tied up outside the airport.

The ARL said the incident remains under investigation.
