Carlson was arrested Wednesday, Oct. 19, but had been the subject of an investigation for more than two months.

In August 2022, Homeland Security and the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office investigated Carlson for suspected possession of child pornography.

According to a release from the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office, a search warrant revealed 47 images and 155 videos of child pornography in Carlson’s home, as well 529 chats where Carlson had sexualized conversations with juveniles, both male and female.

Twelve of Carlson’s charges came from the results of that search warrant, while another came from a vigilante group’s tip to law enforcement.

In September, a group calling themselves Midwest Predator Catchers told law enforcement they had lured Carlson to a park by pretending to be a 14-year-old boy on Grindr.
