(ABC 6 News) – A fun family trick-or-treat costume party was held at Christ Lutheran Church in Byron Sunday evening.

This was Christ Lutheran Church’s third time having this event and it was open to the whole community. It was a spin-off of “trunk or treat” but was held inside where children and families could stay warm while they trick-or-treat from door to door within the church.

“There are some people who maybe live out in the country, we are in a more rural area, and they don’t get trick-or-treaters. What a great thing for our congregation to be able to volunteer at a door, dress up themselves. I mean we don’t always get to dress up as adults and still get to see all of the great little kids and all of their cute costumes.” Kristine Ihrke, a member of Christ Lutheran Church, said.

This event started in 2018 but it had to take a break during the pandemic. Ihrke said the event has always been such a success and at least 150 trick-or-treaters are expected to come through the doors in an hour-and-a-half time span.

Ihrke said the event couldn’t happen without the volunteers, some of which are confirmation students.
