UPDATE: St. Charles teen recovers after successful heart transplant

St. Charles teen Braxton Wolhferd successfully received a new heart after a transplant Saturday night.

(ABC 6 News) – St. Charles teen Braxton Wolhferd successfully received a new heart after a transplant Saturday night.

The high school wrestler was in critical condition after a virus attacked his heart, but his family says the new heart is working well.

Braxton remains on dialysis as his kidneys have stopped working, but for now, things are looking better.

A raffle and live auction at the Blizzard Bash in St. Charles will take place Saturday, Feb 3rd at 8 p.m.

All proceeds will go toward supporting Braxton and his family.

The fundraising goal was set at $10,000, and the Wohlferd family has already surpassed that goal, raising more than $38,000 in about 14 hours.
