(ABC 6 News) — The Mitchell County Sheriff’s office has determined that a report of a possible threat of violence against the St. Ansgar School District earlier this month was fabricated.

That report came in on Sunday, January 7th. As a precaution, the district canceled classes on Monday, January 8th.

There had allegedly been a “list” and that St. Ansgar would be “next” following the shooting in Perry, IA. After investigating, the sheriff’s office has now determined that the list never existed and the threat of violence was fabricated.

The case will now go to the Mitchell County Attorney’s office for review. The juvenile who fabricated the threat could potentially face charges.
