(ABC 6 News) – The temperature is dropping and winter is around the corner and this morning, the Rochester Salvation Army is making sure everyone will stay warm with a free coat-drive.

After people in the community donated their coats last Saturday, people in need of winter apparel were able to choose from around 800 donated coats for them and their families.

A few hundred people were at the drive today, some just for themselves, and some that were getting gear for their little ones.

Warm clothes ranging from jackets to boots to snow pants were available to take home. All of the apparell possible from charitable community donations.

While the event ended at 3 p.m. today, the Salvation Army says it is never too late to ask for help. If you were not able to get a coat today, stop in and they will do what they can to help.

With the holidays coming up, the Salvation Army wants to remind the public about upcoming programs, like their free holiday meal on Thanksgiving and Christmas from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at the Social Services building.

The food shelf is open from 10-3pm Tues. and Fri. The food shelf features various meats, grains, vegetables and fruits.
